Parts of the Augsburg District Court are located in the Palace of Justice.

The Augsburg District Court is one of 73 district courts in Bavaria and is a court of ordinary jurisdiction . The court rooms are located both in the Palace of Justice and in buildings on Fugger- and Gögginger Straße. The Schwabmünchen district court branch was closed on January 31, 2017.

When the district court of Zusmarshausen was downgraded to a branch of the Augsburg district court during the Second World War , the communities of Adelsried , Agawang , Altenmünster , Anried , Aretsried , Auerbach , Baiershofen , Bonstetten , Breitenbronn , Buch , Dinkelscherben , Eppishofen , Ettelried , Fischach , Fleinhausen , Gabelbach came into being , Gabelbachergreut , Grünenbaindt , Häder , Hennhofen , Horgau , Horgauergreut , Kutzenhausen , Lindach , Neumünster , Oberschöneberg , Riding Book , Reutern , Ried , Rommelsried , Schönebach , Steinekirch , Streitheim , Unterschöneberg , Ustersbach , Uttenhofen , Vallried , Welden , Willmatshofen , Wollbach , Wollmetshofen , Wörleschwang and Zusmarshausen were added. After the establishment of the Zusmarshausen branch was confirmed in 1956, it was closed again on July 1, 1959.

Currently (2018) the district of the Augsburg District Court includes the area of ​​the city of Augsburg and the district of Augsburg.

In 2010, a business audit by the Higher Regional Court revealed considerable grievances: "Significant backlogs in the criminal justice department" and "deficiencies in the organization of the business process", as the Bavarian Ministry of Justice announced at the beginning of 2011.
