history
The place name of the clearing settlement was originally Utilinried. The settlement was probably founded in the 11th century and, like the castle, is first mentioned in the 12th century. From the middle of the 15th century, the settlement was owned by the Fuggers .
From 1862 to 1929 Ettelried belonged to the district office of Zusmarshausen and from 1929 to the district office of Augsburg , which was then referred to as the district of Augsburg from 1939 . The previously independent municipality of Ettelried was incorporated into Dinkelscherben on January 1, 1977 as part of the municipal reform.
