Schlipsheim is a village and district of the city of Neusäß in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria ( Germany ).
history
Schlipsheim was an independent municipality and was incorporated into Neusäß on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
Schlipsheim belongs to the Catholic parish Sankt Stephanus in Hainhofen .
At least from the late 17th century until the end of 1865 there was an independent Jewish community in Schlipsheim with the “Judenhaus” as a synagogue and community center (today Schlipsheimer Strasse 124-128). The field name "Judendauche" refers to the mikveh .
In 1809 104 Jews were registered in Schlipsheim, half a century later the number fell to 20 due to emigration. In 1865 the community dissolved. The synagogue furnishings were sold.
The Jewish painter and art dealer David Heinemann , who established one of the most important art dealers in Europe in Munich, comes from Schlipsheim . The online database of the "Galerie Heinemann" now includes well over 40,000 important paintings from all epochs.
