The municipality part of Neusäß is namesake and capital of the city of Neusäß in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria ( Germany ). In local usage, the community part is also called "Alt-Neusäß".

history

In the topographic Atlas (before 1830) "Neusäss" is on the hallway between the villages as small Weiler Ottmarshausen and Kriegshaber located

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1179. At that time, several farmers settled around a small lake and called their place “Niusazen” (for example “New Residence”), which later became “Neusäß”. The lake was later drained. Today there is a playground at this point. The Rembolds patrician family built a castle that was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . Only the chapel belonging to the Rembolds Castle is still preserved.

Not far from the chapel there is another, preserved castle, the Liebertschlösschen. Nothing is known about its age and origin. The Augsburg banker Benedikt Adam Liebert , who was later ennobled and built the Schaezlerpalais , acquired it in 1762.
