Justus Friedrich Runde (born May 27, 1741 in Wernigerode , † February 28, 1807 in Göttingen ) was a German lawyer and legal historian .

Life

Runde is the son of Wernigerode town councilor Johann Martin Runde (1680–1759) and Sophie Margarete born. Germann from Minsleben. He attended the Lyceum in Wernigerode from 1755 to 1763, studied at the University of Göttingen , where he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. After he had worked for some time as a professor at the Carolinum in Kassel , from 1784 he was employed as a councilor and full professor of law at the University of Göttingen . Runde was secretary of the Society of Agriculture and the Arts.

He married Sophie Meister and left behind the son Christian Ludwig (member of the government, 1773–1849) and the daughters Simonette (1783–1834), Therese (1791–1847) and Emilie (1793–1861).
