Jutta Ludewig

Jutta Ludewig (born March 20, 1936 in Halle an der Saale ) is a German solo dancer, choreographer and dance teacher.

Jutta Ludewig, the daughter of a businessman in Halle an der Saale, was given specific lessons in rhythmic gymnastics during her school days and received her first private dance lessons. At the age of fifteen she began her professional training in Berlin with Mary Wigman , which she completed (also as a teacher) at the age of 18. After completing her training, she then worked as Wigman's assistant in Leipzig and later studied classical academic dance at the renowned Helken School in Frankfurt am Main .

Engagements as a dancer at theaters and stages in Cologne, Lübeck, Hanover and Mainz followed. During her engagement in Lübeck, she began to design and design her own dance evenings, which she also repeated in other German cities and which ultimately resulted in entire tours. Ludwig devoted himself not only to ballet, but also to expressive dance ( Isadora Duncan names her as a model ). Since 1964 they have toured abroad as well. During her tours within Europe, Canada , Egypt , Morocco , Lebanon and the like. a. she received international recognition as a solo dancer. She often danced to drum music, but sometimes without any music at all.

Her own important choreographies included a. Justitia (1959), Die Sorge (1960), Visions of the Night (1961), Triptychon (1964), Die Zeit (1969) and Visions of the Present (1970). She created group choreographies a. a. to music by Michael Praetorius and Robert Schumann .

In the 1950s (after Koegler: from 1960) she opened her own ballet studio in Mainz , which she headed for around fifty years until the studio was closed in December 2008. Professional dancers who made careers emerged from their school.
