Jutta Sauer , née Pelz (born March 19, 1944 in Schönlanke , Pomerania) is a German author and editor .

Life

Jutta Sauer grew up as a refugee child in the castle park Leveste of Knigge Baron on. Then she attended grammar school, higher commercial school (business diploma). She worked in corporations in Wuppertal, Munich and Osnabrück. In her second education , she completed a degree in literature and art studies as well as philosophy at the University of Osnabrück , completing a Magister Artium . She then received teaching assignments for applied literature (University of Osnabrück). She also worked as a culture journalist and literature lecturer.

Based on their concept, the literature office West Lower Saxony was founded in Osnabrück in 1991. From 1991 to 2009 she was the head of the office and managing director of the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize . She also worked on a voluntary basis in literary associations, including from 1997 to 2001 as deputy chairwoman of the federal board of the Association of German Writers and from 2000 to 2004 as chairwoman of the Lower Saxony Literature Council

She lives as a freelance writer in Osnabrück and is a member of the PEN Center Germany . In 2006 she was appointed to the jury of the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize. Since 2016 she has been the coordinator of the PEN sponsorship and friendship group.

Jutta Sauer publishes poetry, prose and essays in book form, but also in magazines and anthologies (among others at Suhrkamp, ​​Eichborn, Goldmann, S. Fischer, Wallstein, Wiener Frauenverlag) as well as features on the radio (Radio DRS / Switzerland, Radio Bremen).
