Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize
The Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize has been awarded every two years by the city of Osnabrück since 1991 "for fiction, journalistic and generally understandable scientific work" that "deals with the issues of 'inner and outer peace'" (quoted according to award guidelines) . The guiding principle is the motto of the Osnabrück-born writer Erich Maria Remarque "My topic is the people of this century, the question of humanity", whose pacifist commitment is reminded.
The main winners of the Peace Prize will receive 25,000 euros for their excellent work (since 2009; previously 15,000 euros). The special prize is endowed with 5000 euros.
