Käthe Sohnemann
Käthe Sohnemann (also Kate Sohnemann ) for Marriage Schmidt , (* 6. May 1913 in Hamburg , † 1998 in Kiel) was a German gymnast and Olympic champion.
Käthe Sohnemann started for TV Hamburg-Winterhude . At the Olympic Games in 1936 an Olympic team competition for gymnasts took place for the second time after 1928. Käthe Sohnemann took third place behind Gertrud Meyer and Erna Bürger . With the German team consisting of Gertrud Meyer, Erna Bürger, Käthe Sohnemann, Isolde Frölian , Anita Bärwirth , Paula Pöhlsen as well as Friedl Iby and Julie Schmitt , she won the gold medal three points ahead of the team from Czechoslovakia. In 1937 Käthe Sohnemann won the German championships in all-around gymnastics.
