The Quiver Tree Forest ( Afrikaans Kokerboom woud ; English Quiver Tree Forest ) is a 1955 National Monument declared area northeast of Keetmanshoop in the south of Namibia , where about 250-300 quiver trees ( Aloe dichotoma available). The quiver tree is mainly found in the semi-deserts of Namibia and in the north-western part of South Africa and otherwise grows rather sporadically; Plant and forest are under nature protection .
The collection of the probably 200-300 year old and around five meter high aloes of the “Quiver Tree Forest” is located on the grounds of the “Gariganus” farm at the fork of the M29 and C17 roads . Adjacent is the bizarre rocky landscape “ Playground of the Giants ”, a textbook example of block weathering and desert varnish .
Another quiver tree forest, which is not a national monument, but is significantly larger with more than 5000 plants, is only a few kilometers away on "Farm Garas".
