The smooth-deck steamer Queen of Württemberg was a Württemberg Lake Constance ship from 1847.

history

The Queen of Württemberg was the successor ship of the Wilhelm for the Obersee-Querverkehr to Romanshorn and Rorschach , operated in parallel with the Crown Prince . The ship provided this service with an inconspicuous reliability. In 1854 the two Württemberg ships, Crown Prince and Queen of Württemberg, were taken over by the Royal Württemberg State Railways . In 1860 there was a collision with the Swiss steamship Stadt Zürich , in which both ships were badly damaged.

When the Kingdom of Württemberg largely surrendered its sovereignty with the establishment of the Empire in 1871 , the Württemberg State Railways and thus also the Queen of Württemberg remained under state sovereignty. Therefore, the ship continued to sail under the Wuerttemberg flag and not that of the Empire.

After 35 years of operation, the Queen of Württemberg was retired and scrapped in 1882. There was no direct successor ship, only eight years later a new ship was laid with the König Karl . After the decommissioning of the Queen of Württemberg , the Württemberg steamship fleet comprised five passenger ships.
