The debut album by the German singer Marie Wegener is royal . It was released on June 1, 2018 on the Electrola label .

Dieter Bohlen originally announced that he did not want to produce either the single or the album of the winner of the 15th season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar , because he wanted to concentrate on his family during the summer. During a behind-the-scenes meeting, Wegener told him she thought his compositions were great. According to the producer, it was "in his bones" not to make a song for Wegener, which led to the creation of her song Königlich . After Wegener's victory on May 5, 2018, Bohlen canceled his family vacation to produce her album. Wegener's DSDS winner song Königlich was released on the day of the finale on May 5, 2018, as the first single from the album.
reception
In a review that was published before the album was released, nordbuzz.de described Königlich as a mix of groovy pop songs, soulful ballads and duets with Sarah Lombardi , Pietro Lombardi and MC Bilal , which did not come as a big surprise, however, and wrote that Wegeners enormous potential on the album is not fully exploited. The lyrics were criticized because the singer's personal notes were missing and because they sounded more like an experienced Schlagerqueen than a 16-year-old student. The portal praised Wegener's "fantastic voice".
