The Künzbach is a right and northern tributary of the Elsava in the Lower Franconian district of Miltenberg in the Bavarian Spessart .

The Künzbach rises at an altitude of 286  m above sea level. NHN northeast of Eichelsbach in the deeply cut and wooded Künzbachgrund between the Faulenberg (approx. 384  m above sea level ) in the east and the Eichelsberg (approx. 406  m above sea level ) in the west.

It runs in a southerly direction, past the Schafhof to Sommerau , a district of Eschau . There the Künzbach crosses under the 2308 state road and finally flows out shortly before the Lohmühle weir at an altitude of 167  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Elsava .

The approximately 3.4 km long course of the Künzbach ends about 119 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 35 ‰.

Catchment area

The approximately 6.4 km² catchment area of ​​the Künzbach lies in the Spessart and is drained through it via the Elsava, the Main and the Rhine to the North Sea.

It borders

  • in the northeast to the catchment area of ​​the Aubachsgraben , which flows into the Elsava
  • in the east and south to that of the Elsava itself
  • in the southwest to that of the Erzgraben , also a tributary of the Elsava
  • in the west to that of the Hausener Bach , which flows into the Main
  • and in the north to that of the Röhlsbach , which drains into the Main via the Leidersbach and Sulzbach .

The highest point is the house height at 411  m above sea level. NHN in the north of the catchment area.

Most of the catchment area in the upper reaches is forested.
