Shimizu has mainly participated in the Far East Cup since 2005 . He has achieved 18 podium finishes so far, including five wins, and won the overall standings in the 2013/14 season. (As of February 18, 2017) In the 2010/11 season , he finished second in the overall standings. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2008 in Mals , he finished 37th over 10 km classic and fifth in the relay. The following year he won the bronze medal in the sprint at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Praz de Lys Sommand. At the 2010 U23 World Championships in Hinterzarten , he came 31st in the skiathlon and 25th place over 15 km classic. In the cross-country world cup he made his debut at the beginning of the 2010/11 season in Gällivare and finished 21st in the relay. He ran his first individual World Cup race at the following World Cup in Davos . He achieved 65th place over 15 km classic. At the 2011 Asian Winter Games in Almaty , he won the silver medal with the relay. He also finished fourth in the sprint and over 10 km classic. In March 2011 he came at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo on the 28th place over 15 km classic, on the 15th place together with Yūichi Onda in the team sprint and on the sixth place with the relay. His best result at the U23 World Championships 2012 in Erzurum was 33rd place over 15 km classic. In December 2014 he finished 85th in the World Cup Mini Tour in Lillehammer . He got his first World Cup points in February 2017 in Pyeongchang with the 27th place in the skiathlon. At the Winter Asian Games 2017 in Sapporo , he won the bronze medal over 10 km classic and the gold medal with the relay.
