The steam locomotives "DONAU" to "AETNA" were freight locomotives of the Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB).

KFNB "AETNA" (original version)

They were delivered by Cockerill in Seraing to the KFNB in 1844/1845 with the axle formula 2'B.

In these machines, for the first time, balancing levers were installed between the coupling axles in order to compensate for the relief and overloading of the axles caused by irregularities in the superstructure. Between 1853 and 1865, the boilers were replaced on all machines. The table shows the final status.

The boiler of the "DONAU" exploded on June 26, 1851. However, it was repaired and rebuilt as a 1B machine.

The machines were removed from stock in 1865-1869, with some being sold. For example, the "DONAU" came to the Dreher brewery in Schwechat in 1867, the "OR" came to the Pest as a construction locomotive in 1867 - Losonczer Bahn and "CASTOR" and "ACHILLES" in 1869 to the Braun & Goldschmied company .
