The DG 2000 CCE was a diesel locomotive type from the manufacturer Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) and the only locomotive with a front driver's cab on both sides from the 1954 model range. The unique piece, manufactured in 1957, was presented on various railways and covered 17,000 kilometers.

A long-term use took place in Norway , where the machine - mainly between Bergen and Oslo - covered around 353,000 km. Trial operation ended in 1961.

RAG D 1 / D 01

The 2000 hp locomotive with the factory number Deutz 1957/56500 was then sold to the Regentalbahn , where it ran as D 1 (later D 01) with the nickname "Hans the Great" and replaced several steam locomotives. The railway used them for almost two decades on their home route Gotteszell - Viechtach - Blaibach , primarily for freight traffic. This mission ended on January 31, 1980.

DEG V 201

In 1980 the locomotive was sold to the Deutsche Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (DEG), which used it on the Teutoburg Forest Railway (TWE) network. There it was given the road number V 201 and pulled heavy military trains between Ibbenbüren and Hövelhof , among other things . The locomotive was considered to be quite prone to failure. That is why it was passed on to the Farge-Vegesacker Railway (FVE), which was also part of DEG, in 1981 , although it kept its number. For around a year she transported coal to a power station in Bremen-Farge and tank cars to a tank farm .

In 1982 the locomotive was sold to the company Vorholt & Schega in Haltern , after the last owner used a modern diesel locomotive as a rental locomotive. This locomotive dealer sold the locomotive to the French track construction company Travaux du Sud-Ouest (TSO), where it was in service for almost ten years. After several years of storage, it was scrapped in 1996.

Technical Equipment

The round shapes of the six-axis DG 2000 CCE are similar to the DB series V 200.0 , the top light was below the front window. Five rectangular windows arranged in a row and another at the height of the fan grilles mounted above gave light to the engine room.

In terms of technical equipment, it was similar to the V 200 . The diesel-hydraulic drive system consisted of two twelve-cylinder four-stroke diesel engines from Deutz and the L 306 r transmission from Voith . In the drive, the vehicles were equipped with a steering lever system instead of pivot pins. The locomotive's color scheme remained unchanged throughout its service life in Germany and Norway. The dark green body was divided in the longitudinal direction halfway up by a narrow silver decorative strip, which was underlaid by a second in the area of the driver's cabs. A beige bib on the front sides was extended on both sides to behind the driver's cab window. The locomotive frame and bogies were black. In France , the locomotive was painted yellow with two additional red vertical stripes, one of which ran directly above the black frame, the other between the fan grilles and the engine room windows. The latter was drawn down in a V-shape in the front area.
