Aidan Devine (* in England , Great Britain ; also Aidan Devin ) is a British- Canadian actor .

Life and accomplishments

Devine was born in England and spent his childhood there. His father was a doctor. When he was fifteen, the family moved to the Canadian capital, Ottawa . When he was eighteen he went to Montreal . There he was trained as an actor at the Dome Theater School . He then appeared in the theater for about ten years . In the mid-1990s, he moved to Toronto and increasingly turned to film.

In his more than twenty-year career he can be seen mainly in television productions. In total, he embodied over 70 roles in front of the camera, for example in the film Love and Other Cruelties (1993) by director Denys Arcand with Thomas Gibson . Devine played a supporting role in the award-winning television film Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001), starring Judy Davis and Victor Garber . In 2001, he had a guest role in four episodes of the final season of the dramatic agent series Nikita and was as Enemy Agent Graff the antagonist of the two main characters, played by Peta Wilson and Roy Dupuis . Other of his films are the film drama Caught in Eternal Ice - The Story of Dr. Jerri Nielsen (2003) by director Roger Spottiswoode with Susan Sarandon , the thriller Cold Creek Manor (2003) by Mike Figgis with Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone and A History of Violence (2005) by David Cronenberg with Viggo Mortensen .

Devine won two Gemini Awards , in 1997 for Best Actor for Net Worth (directed by Jerry Ciccoritti ) and in 1998 for Best Supporting Actor for The Arrow (directed by Don McBrearty). He was nominated for this award in 1995 for Dieppe and twice in 2003 for Scar Tissue and for 100 Days in the Jungle , each for best supporting actor. In 2002 Devine was named Best Actor for Reunion at the Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival .
