The ancient Egyptian tomb KV31 in the Valley of the Kings was discovered in 1817 by Giovanni Battista Belzoni , who dug for Earl Belmore .

The owner of the grave is unknown and nothing is known about the grave itself, so that there is no information about the shape or contents of the grave. KV31 KV30 but could besides the location for one of quartz and sandstone existing sarcophagus be the one from the 18th dynasty originated. This was donated to the British Museum by Earl Belmore .

For a long time the tomb was filled with rubble. KV31, like other graves in the Valley of the Kings, is being examined by a research team from the University of Basel . In 2012, mummies, some of which were badly damaged, were found in the chambers marked D and C. The fragmented body parts were examined and made a total of five individuals. All damage was found to be post mortem . There were no amulets or inscriptions on mummy bandages. Further investigations into the mummified remains are to follow.
