The Kaduna is a river in northwestern Nigeria .

It rises on the Jos plateau, about 30 km south of the city of Jos . It initially flows northwest and turns to southwest near the city of Kaduna . After a flow distance of 348 km it is dammed up to the Shiroro Reservoir . Currently (as of 2019) another hydropower plant is being built near Zungeru , 77 km below . It should have an output of 700 MW; the dam is to form the largest reservoir in Nigeria.

environmental Protection

In particular, through the Galma River and the city of Zaria , which lies on it, industrial wastewater is brought into the Kaduna catchment area, which above all brings with it increased levels of heavy metals.
