Kai Beckmann

Kai Beckmann (born September 13, 1965 in Hanau ;) is a German manager and member of the executive board of Merck KGaA , Darmstadt , as well as president of the Federal Employers' Association Chemicals BAVC .

Life

Beckmann studied computer science from 1984 to 1989 at the Technical University of Darmstadt and received his doctorate in economics in 1998 while working .

He began his professional career in 1989 as an IT systems consultant at Merck. From 1999 to 2004 he was the main department head for information management and consulting, and from 2004 to 2007 he was managing director of the Merck companies in Singapore and Malaysia . From 2007 to 2014 Beckmann was Merck's first CIO to head the Corporate Information Services department . From 2014 to 2017 he was Chief Administration Officer and responsible for the corporate functions Group Human Resources, Group Business Technology, Group Procurement, Inhouse Consulting, Site Operations and Merck Business Services as well as Environment, Health, Safety, Security, Quality.

Beckmann has been a member of the Executive Board of Merck KGaA since 2011 and CEO of the Performance Materials business sector since 2017 . In October 2018, he took over responsibility for the Darmstadt site and internal management consulting at Merck KGaA. In addition, he acts as spokesman for Germany with responsibility for co-determination matters. Kai Beckmann has been President of the German Chemical Employers' Association since June 2017.
Beckmann is married and has one son.
