Career

Nokelainen jumped in the Ski Jumping World Cup between 1986 and 1988 . He made his World Cup debut on December 21, 1986 in Chamonix . With 7th place, he was also able to achieve a placement among the top ten for the first time and thus also won nine World Cup points. Since this was his only jumping this season, he finished it in 49th place in the overall World Cup ranking. In the following season 1987/88 he was able to achieve the best result of his career with the 5th place in the second competition in Lake Placid . However, the start of the Four Hills Tournament 1987/88 failed and he only landed in the back of the list. He achieved his best placement of the tour with a 35th place in Innsbruck . In his first competition after the tour, which was also the last World Cup competition of his career, he jumped from the large hill in Lahti to 6th place. The 1987/88 season he finished in 38th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

After the end of his active ski jumping career, Nokelainen switched to summer sport and is now an orienteer for the Jämsän Retki-Veikot club. He also runs half marathon and marathon competitions.
