Kai Ortmann

Kai Ortmann (born January 31, 1978 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German drummer , textbook author and music school founder.

Life

Kai Ortmann received drum lessons from the age of six. He studied drums at the Los Angeles Music Academy with Joe Porcaro and Ralph Humphrey , at the vocational school for music in the Middle Franconia district with Claus Heßler and took part in the pop course at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater .

With the band Stone The Crow he released two albums as a co-composer and co-producer alongside the other band members and Moses Schneider and toured Germany and neighboring Europe for a few years. Then he stepped u. a. in the four-piece formation Pin-Brothers (with Uwe Lenz, brother of Martin Lenz , and Gaz from Dr. Mablues and the Detail Horns ), was active as a music producer and drummer with the Brothers fdm and performed at the international JazzArtFestival.

In 2007 he moved to Hamburg. There he founded the band Xusha , has been a music producer and drummer with Stefan Waldow since 2011 and drummer with Natalia Klitschko since 2014 . Since the beginning of 2015 he has also been touring with the band Homefield Four through large parts of Germany. In 2018 the album Ewiger Moment by Stefan Waldow was released, on which Kai Ortmann worked as a drummer and producer.

In addition to his concert activities, Kai Ortmann is active as a drum teacher, band coach and music school director. In 2009 he founded his own music school and in 2012 published a drum kit based on the Moeller technique based on Sanford A. Moeller .

At the beginning of 2019 another drum lesson from Kai Ortmann was published by Hansepercussion-Verlag.
