Kai Sichtermann (* 1951 in Kiel ) is a German bass player and founding member of the German rock band Ton Steine ​​Scherben .

biography

Kai Sichtermann was born in Kiel as the son of a lawyer and the painter Illa Blaue . He attended a music school in Lübeck . In 1969 he moved to Berlin , where he met Rio Reiser, among others . He originally played guitar but later switched to bass. From the beginning - and with the exception of 1974 and 1975 until their dissolution - he was a member of the band Ton Steine ​​Scherben .

When the other band members of the “Scherben” moved to Fresenhagen , he decided to move to the Schlei instead with his girlfriend Angie Olbrich, who also belonged to the “Scherben” family . So he was able to escape there in bad times and be with the 'Schherd' in Fresenhagen in better times.

In 1998, Sichtermann recorded the CD Dreams, Death, Memories with friends and other former “broken pieces” (Rio Reiser died in 1996) under the name Die Nachtfalter .

Publications

In 1999, together with Jens Johler and Christian Stahl, he wrote the “Shards” biography No Power for Nobody . He also founded the duo Angels Blue with Angie Olbrich in 2002 , where he took over the role of pianist. In 2010 his second book, Kultsongs & Evergreens , was published with co-authors . Eros Nights Moneymaker was published as an e-book in 2013 , which was also published as a paperback in 2017.

Together with his sister Barbara Sichtermann , he wrote the book “This is our house - a story of squatting”, which was published in 2017 by Aufbau Verlag, Berlin. In the same year, Martin Schmitz Verlag, Berlin, published his autobiography "Vage Sehnsucht", which he wrote again together with Jens Johler .

Last years

Sichtermann still plays the bass at Ton Steine ​​Scherben. In 2014 he founded the unplugged trio "Kai & Funky from TON STEINE SCHERBEN with Gymmick" together with the shard drummer Funky K. Götzner and the Nuremberg songwriter Gymmick - in 2017 their double CD "Radio für Mio" was released.
