The Kaiser-Ludwig-Brunnen is located at the eastern end of Luitpoldstrasse within the listed old town of Weißenburg in Middle Franconia in Bavaria . The fountain is registered under the monument number D-5-77-177-257 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.

history

At the fountain there is a monumental statue of Ludwig the Bavarian. The octagonal well floor is made of shell limestone . Eight pillars with face masks as gargoyles carry a round bowl from which a square, curved pillar grows. Over two gargoyles in the shape of a deer and boar head, the coat of arms, dedication and statue of the king follow. The capital bears three tritons and a mermaid in strong reliefs and above it the bronze figure of King Ludwig the Bavarian.
