The imperial crowns of Charles VII are two imperial crowns belonging to the Wittelsbach emperor Charles VII , which are now kept in the treasury of the Munich residence .

Since the imperial crown was only worn at the coronation of the rulers, the Roman-German emperors used so-called house crowns on all other occasions when they appeared with a crown according to the ceremony. The house crown of Rudolf II of Habsburg , which was used by him and his Habsburg successors, has been preserved to this day. When the Wittelsbach Elector Karl Albrecht was the first non-Habsburg in a long time to be elected Roman-German Emperor and was crowned on February 12, 1742 , no other imperial crown was available to him. Therefore, in 1742 he commissioned the creation of two house crowns. She first listed the inventory of the treasury of the Munich Residence in 1745.

In contrast to the common form of the miter crown for house crowns, both crowns are free replicas of the Roman-German imperial crown made of gold-plated silver . Both have seven connected plates with an imperial crown stirrup and both have a cross over the front plate. The figures of the two apostles Peter and Paul can be found on two of the front panels . The first, larger crown was made by Jakob Philipp Drentwett in Augsburg . It has a height of 25.3 cm and a diameter of 23 cm and shows shell, leaf and cartilage ornaments on the plates. The second, smaller crown was made by Nikolaus Nell in Frankfurt am Main . It has a height of 25.2 cm and a diameter of 22 cm and shows engraved tendrils and ribbon ornaments. Both crowns originally had crown hoods and were adorned with rich gemstone jewelry. The gem setting was under the successors, probably already under Elector Max III. Joseph , removed from the crowns and processed into medals and pieces of jewelry.
