The double house Kaiserstraße 158/160 is a timber-framed building in the residential district Vohwinkel center of Wuppertal district Vohwinkel .

Building description

The two-storey house on Vohwinkeler Hauptstraße, Kaiserstraße which is also classified as Bundesstraße 228 , is on a residential street that is slightly below the level of Kaiserstraße. The double dwelling is part of the historical buildings of the former Grotenbeck court and is one of the oldest structures in Vohwinkel. The building was first mentioned in the original cadastre in 1831 , but the Lower Monument Authority suspects that the time when the building was built was to be set at a much earlier date.

The two half-timbered houses, which rest on a brick base, are accessed from the eaves side facing the street . The compartment can only be seen in the western house, which is covered with a crooked roof . Here the gable facade is slated. The eastern house, which is roofed with a gable roof , had an Eternit cladding .

After the construction, the western house was given two and the eastern house an extension to the south on an unspecified date.

Despite negative changes from the point of view of the monument authority on the façades, the double dwelling was jointly registered as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal on May 17, 1988 .
