Kaiti is a district of the city of Gisborne on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The district consists of the parts Kaiti North , Kaiti South and Outer Kaiti and had a little over 4600 inhabitants in 2013.
The district is located directly east of the city center on the opposite bank of the Waimata River . The nearby Kaiti Beach is one of the most famous spots in New Zealand, as James Cook was the first European to set foot on New Zealand soil here in 1769.
