Kaito Uesugi (born June 2, 1995 in Sakai ) is a Japanese tennis player .

Career

Uesugi played his first professional tournaments in 2014 on the ITF Future Tour . In the same year he also played his first tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour , the next higher tournament category, in Yokohama . At the end of the year he was in the world rankings for the first time . In the two following years he played only a few tournaments and remained in the ranking outside the top 1000. In 2017 he achieved his first successes when he reached the quarter-finals at the Challenger in Yokohama after two victories against top 200 players, where he reached Tatsuma Ito was subject. He also won his first title on the Future Tour in doubles. As a result, at the end of 2017 he was ranked 751 in singles and 651 in doubles.

In 2018, the Japanese managed a further increase. In the singles he reached his first future final and in August he reached his career high with rank 650.
