description

Vegetative characteristics

Kalanchoe macrochlamys is a two to three year old, somewhat succulent , completely bald plant that reaches heights of growth of 80 to 120 centimeters. The roots are bulbous. The large, sessile leaves are very variable in shape over the course of the year. Dry season leaves are thick, usually entire and narrow. Your leaf blade is 30 to 40 inches long and 2 to 4 inches wide. The leaf margin is notched irregularly. The leaves of the rainy season are thin, three to five times pinnate, up to 40 centimeters long and 10 centimeters wide. The base is eyed and encompassing the stem. The elongated segments are 15 to 20 inches long and 5 to 10 inches wide. Its tip is blunt, the leaf margin whole to irregular notched and serrated.

Generative characteristics

The inflorescence consists of large panicles . The pendulous flowers are on 8 to 12 millimeter long flower stalks . The very swollen, white-yellowish, dark-lined calyx is rounded at the base. The cylindrical calyx tube is 30 to 40 millimeters long and has three conspicuous veins. The egg-shaped-triangular calyx lobes have an attached tip, are 8 to 12 millimeters long and 4 to 5 millimeters wide. The corolla is more or less enclosed in the calyx or reaches its mouth. The corolla tube, which is spherical at the base and constricted above, is then more or less elongated. It is bald or sparsely glandular-hairy and 30 to 40 millimeters long. Their ovoid-triangular corolla lobes have a pointed tip, are 5 to 7 millimeters long and about 6 millimeters wide. The stamens are attached to the base of the corolla tube and do not protrude from the flower. The elongated anthers are 3 to 4 millimeters long. The almost circular nectar flakes are about 2.5 millimeters long. The elongated carpel has a length of 7 to 8 millimeters. The stylus is 22 to 24 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Kalanchoe macrochlamys is common in the northwest of Madagascar on moist, rocky places.
