Kalanchoe serrata is a species of the genus Kalanchoe in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae).
description
The perennial, bare, dense shrubs with branches creeping at the bottom , which are later upright, reach heights of growth of 30 to 60 centimeters. The stalked to almost sessile, elliptical to oval green-bluish leaves are 4 to 6 inches long, 2.5 to 4.5 inches wide and 3 millimeters thick. They are finely frosted with white and provided with reddish spots. Small wings sit under the leaves. Brood buds form on the serrated and toothed edges of the leaves . The inflorescence becomes high up to 30 centimeters. The hanging, red-orange to golden yellow flowers are tubular and up to 3 centimeters long.
Systematics and distribution
Kalanchoe serrata is widespread in the Andringitra massif in south-central Madagascar .
It was first described in 1947 by Octave Mannoni and Pierre Boiteau . Synonyms of the species are Bryophyllum serratum (Mannoni & Boiteau) Lauz.-March. and Bryophyllum lauzac-marchaliae V.V.Byalt .
