Company history

Kali Chemie AG was founded in 1899 as "Kaliwerke Friedrichshall AG". In 1921, the company acquired the majority of shares in "Kaliwerke Neu- Staßfurt " in the Prussian province of Saxony and from then on operated under the name "Kaliwerke Neu-Staßfurt - Friedrichshall AG". After the merger in 1928 with the "Rhenania-Kunheim Vereinigte Chemische Fabriken AG" in Berlin, which in turn was created in 1925 from the merger of the "Chemische Fabrik Kunheim & Co. AG" with the Chemische Fabrik Rhenania AG in Stolberg - Atsch , which had taken over the chemical factories association in Mannheim three years earlier , in accordance with the resolution of the general meeting of September 6, 1928, this new company constellation was now renamed to "Kali Chemie AG" based in Berlin.

Before the Second World War , the company was one of the largest German potash producers alongside Wintershall AG , Burbach-Kaliwerke AG , Salzdetfurth AG and Preussag . In 1945 the seat was moved to Hanover. In 1954, the Belgian Solvay took over the majority of the company's shares. Since November 17, 1989, Kali Chemie has belonged to the German subsidiary Solvay GmbH of the Belgian Solvay Group, but the existing control and profit and loss transfer agreement was terminated on December 31, 2006. The company's share was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange until February 4, 2004 ; since April 1, 2004, the share has only been traded on the Hanover Stock Exchange.

Solvay Kali-Chemie Holding GmbH was a major shareholder with a stake of more than 95% in the share capital. After a squeeze-out , Solvay was the sole shareholder; the stock exchange listing was discontinued on August 5, 2010. 2011 Kali Chemie AG into a GmbH converted and on 11 January 2011 under the Company Property GmbH , based in Hanover in the commercial register entered. Shortly thereafter, the name was changed to Horizon Immobilien GmbH , which was entered in the commercial register on February 2, 2011. The activity of the GmbH is essentially limited to the administration of the assets.
