The lime kiln is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city of Hameln .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 071 is 3.5 hectares in size. It is bordered to the south and west by the conservation area "Hamelin Fish Becker forests and marginal areas". The area has been a nature reserve since May 17, 1984. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Hameln.
The nature reserve is located in the east of Hameln, west of the Rohrsen district, on the slope of the Morgenstern within the Weserbergland Schaumburg-Hameln nature park . The nature reserve places a former limestone quarry with sun-exposed steep walls in the western part as well as semi -arid grassland and near-natural shrubbery and forest areas, which have a ravine forest-like character, in the eastern part. The "lime kiln" is a retreat and regeneration area for endangered animal and plant species.
