The Töneböns ponds are under nature conservation standing pond landscape in the Lower Saxon town of Hameln .

Nature reserve

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 072 is 28  hectares in size. It has been a nature reserve since May 31, 1984. It replaces most of the beginning of December 1974 stated, the same nature sanctuary . The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Hameln.

The nature reserve is located in the south of Hameln within the Weserbergland Schaumburg-Hameln nature park and protects several ponds and their bank areas that were created through soil degradation and which have developed naturally over the course of time with reed zones, woody trees and bank meadows.

The ponds serve u. a. as a resting and wintering area for various water birds . In the course of the year, z. B. Little grebe , great crested grebe , shoveler , pochard and tufted duck as well as pond rail and coot to be found.

A circular hiking trail with observation areas runs around the nature reserve directly on the shore. The nature reserve borders on an allotment garden area in the north, sports facilities and a restaurant in the north-west and west , a campsite and a riding school in the south, and agricultural areas in the east .
