Chamber Union Elbe / Oder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chamber Union Elbe / Oder , KEO for short, was founded as an unregistered association in 2000 and represents an amalgamation of Polish, Czech and German chambers of industry and commerce . These jointly represent the cross-border interests of the Elbe-Oder region in which the In 2010 there were 37.6 million people living, around 7.5% of the EU population. The gross domestic product in 2008 was 716.6 billion euros, which corresponds to 5.7% of the gross domestic product of the EU. The Elbe-Oder region is one of the most important central economic areas in Europe .

Objectives of the Elbe / Oder Chamber Union

KEO-Elbe-Oder-Region

The goals of the KEO are to advance the economic integration of Poland , the Czech Republic and Germany more quickly and to integrate the interests of the regional economy more effectively into European developments. In this context, the expansion of the transport infrastructure is of particular interest, because sustainable economic development is inconceivable without efficient modern transport networks . As a result of the long division of Europe, the transport infrastructure of the Elbe-Oder region continues to show deficits, especially across national and national borders. The amalgamation of the different national transport systems , the development of multimodal interfaces and the expansion of cross-border land and water transport routes should also contribute to managing port hinterland transport and thus guarantee the regions' participation in world trade. At the same time, the concerns of environmental protection should be taken into account. This represents a great challenge and calls for a joint approach by the regions.
