The Lübeck Chamber of Commerce and Industry (in short: Lübeck Chamber of Commerce and Industry ) is the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Lübeck and the districts of the Duchy of Lauenburg , Ostholstein , Segeberg and Stormarn . The IHK is based in Lübeck. It has over 65,000 member companies (as of 2016).

history

In 1853 the merchants of the Free and Hanseatic City of Lübeck merged to form the Lübeck Merchants' Association and appointed the Chamber of Commerce to their board of directors. The structures of self-government of the economy in Lübeck go back to the year 1378.

In 1934 it was renamed the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and in 1937 it was reorganized into a Chamber of Commerce. The IHK district thus included the Lübeck district and today's four districts of Ostholstein, Segeberg, Stormarn and the Duchy of Lauenburg. In March 1942, the Lübeck Chamber of Industry and Commerce was incorporated into the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Commerce with its seat in Lübeck, the economic focus of the state. In October 1948, tradespeople elected a general assembly for the first time since the war, at that time still in free membership.

In 1986, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce initiated the establishment of the Lübeck Technology Center in order to found new, technically-oriented companies and create jobs . Today the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to promoting the fixed link across the Fehmarnbelt , which is to connect Fehmarn and Denmark in 2022 .

organization

The highest organ of the IHK is the general assembly . It elects the honorary Presidium consisting of the Praeses and the seven Vice-Presides. The vice-presidents advise the president. Together they determine the main focus of the IHK's work and prepare the decisions of the general assembly. The President runs the Chamber of Industry and Commerce together with the full-time managing director.

The election takes place in electoral groups according to branches. Each member company has one vote to elect the general assembly. The voting weight of every company depends exclusively on the electoral group and differs many times over. The division of the electoral groups and the number of seats is determined by the outgoing general assembly at the suggestion of the electoral group committee before the election. The general assembly is elected for six years.

In the districts of the Duchy of Lauenburg, Ostholstein, Segeberg and Stormarn there are IHK economic advisory boards that deal with regional issues.

From October 2006 to 2010, the former Economics and Transport Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Bernd Rohwer, was chief executive of the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce and Industry and, since January 2007, also the IHK Schleswig-Holstein . He made these tasks available in 2010. Lars Schöning has held the position of General Manager since 2013. As the first woman in this office, the General Assembly in February 2013 elected the entrepreneur Friederike C. Kühn as the new President.
