Canoe Association Württemberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Canoe Association Württemberg eV (KVW) based in Stuttgart sees itself as a representative of the interests of the canoe clubs in Württemberg. On March 26, 1948, the canoeing division of the Württemberg state sports association decided to set up a canoeing association for Württemberg. The application for approval was forwarded to the military government of Württemberg-Baden.

The KVW is a member of the German Canoe Association and the Württemberg State Sports Association . 49 associations with a total of 4,752 members are currently organized in the KVW. The office of the Canoe Association Württemberg is located in Neuenstadt am Kocher.

On March 31, 2012, at an extraordinary association day in Heilbronn-Böckingen, the merger with the Badischer Kanu-Verband (BKV) was decided unanimously. The delegates of the BKV had already voted for the merger with a clear majority on March 17th. With the entry in the Stuttgart register of associations on August 16, 2012, the merger of the two canoe associations to form Canoe Association Baden-Württemberg eV (KVBW) became legally binding.

Main areas of activity

Recreational sports

The majority of the members are active in canoeing recreational sports (especially canoeing ). The KVW organizes annual events that are advertised in the sports program of the German Canoe Association. One of the main concerns of the association is the protection of waters and ensuring that they can be used by canoeists. In view of the numerous navigation regulations for nature conservation reasons for Wuerttemberg waters ( Danube , Enz , Jagst , Kocher etc.), the experts at the KVW are trying to reach amicable regulations with the authorities involved and have thus been able to achieve acceptable regulations for canoeing for some river sections instead of rigorous full closures.

competitive sport

In competitive canoeing, the KVW works closely with the Baden Canoe Association. Both associations have founded the Baden-Württemberg Racing Association (ARGE), under whose flag the athletes compete in national competitions.

In addition to canoe racing , competitive athletes from Württemberg also successfully compete in canoe slalom , canoe dragon boat , canoe polo and canoe freestyle .

education

The clubs offer numerous canoe courses for beginners and advanced, in which non-members can usually also take part. The KVW itself conducts license courses for technical trainers and trainers.

Since 2010, some clubs have also been holding special courses for acquiring the five-stage European paddle pass .

societies

The 49 canoe clubs in Württemberg are spread over the entire area, with metropolitan areas around Heilbronn, Stuttgart, Ulm and Lake Constance. Many clubs are run by the German Canoe Association with the award "Active Canoe Club" or, as DKV canoe stations, make their boathouses and club grounds available to other canoeists for overnight stays.
