The Cape Mackintosh is a low, icy cape between the Lassiter- and Black Coast of Palmer Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . At the northern tip of the Kemp Peninsula , it marks the entrance to Mason Inlet to the east .
It was probably discovered in December 1940 by scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) when they were photographing the Kemp Peninsula while exploring the coast. Participants of the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) carried out geodetic surveys of the area in collaboration with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey . The FIDS named the cape after Neil A. Mackintosh (1900–1974), a British marine biologist and oceanographer.
