The Mason Inlet is 24 km long and icy bay at the Lassiter Coast of Palmer Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It extends between Cape Mackintosh and the coastline south of Cape Herdman .
It was first seen and photographed during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) during an overflight in December 1940. Additional aerial photographs were taken in 1947 as part of the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948), in collaboration with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) the mapping was carried out. The FIDS named the inlet after the British geodesist Douglas Percy Mason (1920–1986), who was involved in the sled excursions to measure the coastline.
