The chapter Philippine is a 490 m high top cliff on the Scott-coast of the east Antarctic Victoria Land . The cape marks the eastern end of the D'Urville Wall and the north side of the mouth of the David Glacier in the Ross Sea in the form of the Drygalski ice tongue .
The cape was discovered by participants in the Nimrod expedition (1907-1909) led by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton . It is named after the German geologist Emil Philippi (1871–1910), a member of the Gauss expedition (1901–1903).
