Cast iron cross from 1899 in Peugenhammer
Medieval atonement cross in Peugenhammer

The precursor to this little church , also known as the Haberstumpf Chapel, can be seen in the house chapel of the former Peugenhammer ironworks . Reported on Kooperator Troßner on 24 January 1866 "in the former home to a private chapel was located in the newly built, it was not established. According to the parish register, the Hochw died there on November 28, 1768. Mr. Ferdinand Enslein, curate in Peugenrieth, parish Altenstadt near Voghenstrauss, at the age of 48 years. “The owner at the time, Katharina Haberstumpf, found three old pictures, one depicting an altarpiece of the Immaculate Conception (three shoes high and two wide) and another depicted a Mater dolorosa and a third Christ on the cross . The latter two images were stolen in 1972.

Johann Haberstumpf had the current chapel built in 1950. Adam Haberstumpf had a cast-iron cross erected nearby in 1899; opposite is a late medieval and partially mutilated atonement cross . It may be an atonement cross that was erected for Hans Dörfler, who was murdered by Hans Bauer and two blacksmiths.

Construction

The chapel is a steep roof building with a choir closed on three sides . A roof turret with a pointed helmet and a gilded cross is attached . On the chapel there is the year "1950", which indicates the year of construction.
