Kaphengst is the name of a middle-market nobility family .
history
The family first appears in a document in 1321 with the duobus Capehingest . Gericke Cappehengest appears on June 6, 1356 with the enfeoffment of Cumlose in the Prignitz and was also based on Bresch. The safe trunk line begins with Gerecke Caphengst, documented in 1486–1511 on Bresch .
From then on, until the 19th century, the family was mainly based in Westprignitz , with the Bresch, Reetz and Gülitz estates belonging to their ancestral domains for centuries: Bresch since the 15th century, Reetz since the 16th and Gülitz since the 17th century .
