The radersalon boat Kapitein Kok was built in 1911 at the J. & K. Smit built in Krimpen aan de Lek for the shipping company Stoombootdienst op de Lek as a cargo and passenger ship and put into service under the name Reederij op de Lek no.6 . It is the last ship in the former Dutch paddle steamer fleet.

history

From 1911 the ship operated in passenger and freight traffic between Rotterdam and Schoonhoven . With a load capacity of 131 tons, up to 1200 passengers could be carried in addition to the cargo. In 1948 the ferry service was stopped. 1940 was the No. 6 involved in the evacuation of Rhenen .

In 1950 the paddle steamer was sold to Ludwigshafen am Rhein and operated there under the name Rheinpfalz . In 1976 the ship returned to Holland and was completely restored and converted into a party boat by its new owner W. Key, the owner of De Majesteit . The steam engine was replaced by a diesel engine. Since then the ship has been called the Radersalonboot Kapitein Kok , named after its last Dutch captain. In 1984 it was sold to the current shipping company.

Furnishing

The ship is very luxuriously furnished in the style of the 1920s with precious woods and many fittings and furnishings made of brass . Red plush was predominantly used as upholstery fabric . There are four salons and three bars on the three decks. In addition, the fore and aft decks are accessible for outdoor use. The shipping company markets the ship as a party boat; civil weddings can also be carried out on board.
