The Karasjohka ( North Sami Kárášjohka; Norwegian Karasjokka ; Finnish Kaarasjoki ) is a river in the Troms og Finnmark in northern Norway .

geography

It rises in the low mountain range in the south of Norway's part of Lapland . It flows from southwest to northeast through an inaccessible forest and lake area. Later it meanders through a wide gravel bed. Just before the confluence with the Tanaelv , the municipality of Karasjok is the only larger settlement on the river. The largest tributaries are Iešjohka from the west and Bávttajohka from the south.
