Karenni Army
The Karenni Army is the armed wing of the Karen National African-Progressive Party ( Karenni National Progressive Party , KNPP), a political organization for the independence of Kayah State in Myanmar fighting.
The KNPP and the Karenni Army were founded in 1955 by Saw Mah Rew .
With the exception of a non-long-lasting ceasefire in 1995, she has been fighting against the troops of the central government of Myanmar since then. Efforts have been made since 2005 to reach a ceasefire, but so far without any notable success. The number of armed fighters is estimated at between 1,000 and 2,000 men.
