The National Democratic Alliance Army-Eastern Shan State (NDAA-ESS) is an armed group under General Lin Mingxian aka Sai Leunin in Myanmar , former Burma. The NDAA-ESS is closely associated with the United Wa State Army and Mong La . The headquarters of the NDAA-ESS is located in Mong La in the triangle between Myanmar, China and Laos . The NDAA-ESS controls the so-called special region 4 of the Shan state . The NDAA-ESS was originally part of the Communist Party of Burma (CPB). After a rebellion within the CPB in 1989, the NDAA-ESS reached an armistice with the military regime in Rangoon . The NDAA-ESS was guaranteed autonomy over the Mong La area as long as Myanmar does not get a new constitution.

The NDAA-ESS officially consists of 3 brigades :

  • Headquarters brigade with 3 battalions .
  • The 369 brigade with 5 battalions.
  • The 911 brigade with 7 battalions.
