Karin Andersson (politician)
Karin Elisabet Andersson (born October 8, 1918 in Åsby near Veddige , Hallands län ; † July 20, 2012 in Ås , Varberg municipality , Hallands län) was a Swedish politician .
Karin Andersson was trained as a journalist and social worker. She first worked for the daily newspaper Hallands Nyheter and in 1948 moved to the editorial office of RLF-tidningen , a fortnightly magazine. Between 1957 and 1960 she worked as a producer for Sveriges Radio . She then returned to the Reichsverband der Landwirtschaft (RLF) for five years , where she headed the PR department. From 1966 to 1979 she was managing director of the Center Party 's women's association .
She also represented the Center Party, which emerged from the Bauernbund, in the Reichstag between 1971 and 1985 . When her party chairman Thorbjörn Fälldin became Sweden's first non-social democratic politician in 40 years to become Prime Minister after the 1976 Reichstag election , Karin Andersson was commissioned to head an equality committee (jämställdhetskommitté), which was supposed to present a legislative proposal to combat discrimination against women in working life. Since the Fälldin government broke up on the nuclear energy issue in 1978, the proposal drawn up by the committee was initially not implemented. After the bourgeois parties had won the Reichstag election again in 1979 , Fälldin appointed her as equality and immigration minister in his cabinet. On December 13, 1979, the first Swedish Equal Opportunities Act, which was largely part of the design, was passed in the Reichstag. After the defeat of the bourgeois parties in the Reichstag elections in 1982 , she lost her ministerial office.
From 1985 she lived again on her parents' farm Klockaregården near Varberg.
