Varberg is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Halland County and the historic province of Halland . The main town of the municipality is Varberg .

The largest employers in the municipality are the municipal administration itself with around 4,500 employees and the provincial judicial authority with around 1,400 employees. Sweden's largest nuclear power plant , Ringhals , is also located here and employs around 1,400 people. The Internet company LunarWorks , which operates Sweden's most popular online community ( LunarStorm ), is also important. There are also larger factories for the production and processing of paper, wood and concrete.
Around 5,000 residents of the municipality commute to Gothenburg or Falkenberg every day and around 3,200 commuters come to work in the municipality.
natural reserve
South of the city Varberg is located in the town of Varberg the nature reserve Gamla Köpstad Naturreservatet Gamla Köpstad that of the places Gamla Köpstad or Träslövsläge can be reached from. There is also an observation tower with information boards in Gamla Köpstad.
17 km west of the coast is the Fladengrund shoal and a good 20 km southwest of Lilla Middelgrund , both of which are Natura 2000 areas.

Vaberg has partnerships with three cities: Uusikaupunki in Finland, Haderslev in Denmark and Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.
