Gamla Köpstad is a place in the province of Hallands Lan , just under eight kilometers south of the center of Varberg in Sweden . The place is located directly on the Kattegat and has a driveway for the small port from which fishing is carried out.
Before 2015, the place was designated as Småort by Statistiska centralbyrån , most recently (2010) under the name Gamla Köpstad södra och Galtabäck with 91 inhabitants. Since 2015, it has been part of the southernmost district of the crime scene Varberg, together with the formerly independent perpetrators Södra Näs and Träslövsäge in between, which meanwhile form a practically continuously built-up area along the coast.
The offshore coastal strip belongs to the nature reserve Gamla Köpstad (Naturreservatet Gamla Köpstad). On the outskirts there are some information boards and a wooden tower from which you can overlook the place and the nature reserve.
