Grimeton is a place in the Swedish municipality of Varberg . Grimeton is best known for the SAQ longitudinal wave transmitter built in 1924 , which functions as a purely electromechanical machine transmitter . On July 2, 2004, the transmitter in Grimeton , which is still functional today, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO .

In 2015, the Statistiska centralbyrån again identified two localities as Småorter : Grimeton at the former station of the same name on the Varberg – Ätran railway line, which opened in 1911 and closed and later dismantled in 1961, and the original church village of Grimetons kyrkby, a good two kilometers southeast of it , which was opened after 1995 the population, which has fallen below 50, was not listed as Småort . The longest wave transmitter extends immediately southwest of the road between the two districts.

The village's church dates from the Middle Ages and was last renovated in 1995. The menhir Slummesten and the burial ground at Högaberg are nearby .
