Ronald John "Ron" Greschner (born December 22, 1954 in Goodsoil , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 1065 games for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League in the course of his active career between 1971 and 1990 of the defense attorney has denied. Greschner was the 20th team captain in the New York Rangers franchise history between 1986 and 1987 .
Career
Ron Greschner began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian junior league British Columbia Hockey League , in which he was active for the Chilliwack Chiefs until 1971. He then went three years for the New Westminster Bruins in the Western Hockey League on the ice and exceeded the 100 point mark in the 1973/74 season. The defensive player was selected in the second round of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft as the 32nd player in total by the New York Rangers and immediately made it into the Rangers NHL squad, but also played seven games for the Providence Reds in the same season American Hockey League . In the 1978/79 season he qualified with the Rangers after victories against the Los Angeles Kings , Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders for the finals of the Stanley Cup . However, the team lost the series in five games against the Canadiens de Montréal .
In 1979, the Canadian was a member of the NHL All-Star selection, which took part in the Challenge Cup and completed three games against the national team of the Soviet Union . Due to his constant performance, Greschner received an invitation to the NHL All-Star Game in 1980 , where he represented the team at the Campbell Conference . For the two seasons 1981/82 and 1982/83 he fell due to several injuries almost completely from the game operations and completed only 39 games in the regular season .
The Canadian was uninterrupted for the New York Rangers until the end of his career in 1990, but could never win the Stanley Cup.
